ACM x Alexander & James | The Don Julio Tequila Lover's Collection

We have teamed up with premium spirits specialists Alexander & James, (an online store that is dedicated to premium spirits and the craft, heritage and passion that goes into making them) to bring you this feature on The Don Julio Tequila Lover's Collection - a 70cl bottle of "Tequila Don Julio Reposado" and a "Don Julio Luxury Drop Glass" (£60.25).

Tequila Don Julio is a tequila that comes from the region of Jalisco, Mexico and you have to appreciate the love and hard work that goes into every bottle. Each bottle is made from the same handpicked, 100% pure, blue Weber agave plants from the highlands of Jalisco. Each plant is allowed to grow for seven to ten years before it is harvested, resulting in the mellow, fully developed agave flavour Tequila Don Julio is know for. Don Julio is aged for eight months in American white-oak barrels, and is golden amber in colour and offers a rich, smooth finish.

A&J recommend you, to try drinking it the native way and sip your tequila alongside a glass of spicy Sangrita. The recipe can be found on their website.

Kai D. | Fall 2013 Collection

Kai D. was founded with a simple notion, to create handsome and functional clothing for the artisan minded individuals. Every garment is meant to endure a lifetime of experience: to live and age organically with the wearer.

Kai D. Fan has worked as a design consultant for eight years prior to serving as V.P. of Design for Nautica. He has consulted for Lacoste, John Varvatos, Sean John, David Chu, to name a few. He started his line in 2009 simply because he couldn't find the clothing that are well constructed with high quality materials, timeless designs with understated details, slim fit and yet comfortable for movement.

This winter's collection is inspired by the Terra Nova Expedition led by Robert Falcon Scott to reach the South Pole. Kai D. has been a collector of vintage garments for over a decade. He has found endless inspiration from especially military and hunting gear. Every pocket is meant for a specific function and the construction of the garment is meant to ensure wear and tear. Kai D. has spent a lot of time on the construction and fit to the garments to endure that they are tailored to the body and yet provide mobility. The materials this season include compact wool felt, wool cashmere blend flannel, wax cotton, and soft twill vintage treatment.

Film | On Collaboration: Amanda Harlech x Jonathan Anderson

The aristocratic member of Team Lagerfeld talks to the young designer for the latest in the 'On Collaboration' series created by NOWNESS in conjunction with EDITION Hotels.
“I think that anybody who is a creative artist, who is making something out of nothing, has got to be allowed to explore and go into the wild, even if that is in the middle of a city,” muses Amanda Harlech, Karl Lagerfeld’s longtime right-hand woman who features in “Distinction,” the third part of On Collaboration, the NOWNESS series created in conjunction with EDITION Hotels
Director Johnnie Shand-Kydd captures Harlech alongside London-based designer Jonathan (J.W.) Anderson in the bucolic environs of her blissful Shropshire meadow. “Collaboration is the meeting of minds to birth something new or different,” says Anderson, the Northern Ireland-native at the helm of his own acclaimed, eponymous menswear and womenswear lines, Topshop capsule collections and his first collection for Versus, unveiled in May with the help of Donatella Versace.
Harlech works as Creative Consultant for Lagerfeld—and previously John Galliano—and splits her time between Paris and her farm near the North Wales border. “You can only go forward; you can’t be nostalgic or self conscious, that is so dangerous for creativity,” says Harlech, a renowned supporter of emerging fashion talent. “The Latin root of the word collaboration is ‘to work.’ The interesting thing is actually making the work together. It’s all about finding a balance.”
Each film in the On Collaboration series has been produced in partnership with EDITION Hotels, a new project between Ian Schrager and Marriott Hotels. The London EDITION opened yesterday.

Spencerfield Spirit Company | Sheep Dip Whisky

This year has seen us, at ACM, trying out new whiskies and wines. A friend of ours recently tipped us off about an eccentrically named whisky called 'Sheep Dip'. This was once (back in the 80's) the best selling whisky in Harrods. A whisky whose distinctively full-bodied flavour is only reached through weaving together sixteen different single malt whiskies, aged between eight and twenty years, in specially selected first-fill oak casks.

So why the name Sheep Dip? An old West Country term, British farmers have long referred to whisky as Sheep Dip (which was an insecticide used to delouse sheep prior to sheering). There was a time when farmers distilled their own 'home made' whisky, and in order to avoid paying taxes to the revenue man, they'd hide it in barrels marked 'SD'.

In the 1980's, farmers were ordering hundreds of cases of Sheep Dip whisky through farming wholesalers. They were putting it through their business expenses as an insecticide. Unfortunately they didn't all have a flock of sheep, and many were caught and fined for tax evasion — an infamous episode in our history!

Bell & Ross | Only Watch Flight Collection

Bell & Ross are among forty leading watchmakers who are making unique models for the 'Only Watch' auction this year. Taking part in 'Only Watch' for the third time, Bell & Ross wants to show, once again, it's unwavering support to this great event of solidarity towards children who are victims of Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Bell & Ross have designed a collectors box set of six watches. The lavish case which is made from high-quality wood, has been personalized for 'Only Watch'. The collection contains six watches: the BR01 Horizon, Altimeter and Turn Co-ordinator created in 2012 and the BR01 Heading Indicator, Airspeed and Climb created in 2013. Inspired by instruments essential to aeronautical navigation, each of the watches have orange as their common and unique denominator. The box is designed like a dashboard on which the key instruments are laid out in a T for optimum legibility, and will give its possessor the impression of owning a piece of an aircraft cockpit.

After a two-month travelling exhibition around the world, from Singapore to Hong Kong, Shanghai to Beijing, New York and Geneva, the auction will take place on September 28th in Monaco, at the time of the Monaco Yacht Show.
